Sunny San Diego on the Pacific coast of California is known for its amazing beaches and parks. Balboa Park is enormous and meticulously maintained. Here, you’ll find art galleries, studios, gardens, food trucks, museums, fountains, and festivals. It’s also the site of the immensely popular San Diego Zoo, as well as numerous art galleries, artist studios, and lots of terrific museums.

After the kids have enjoyed the zoo, take them to visit the USS Midway, the aircraft carrier, which now functions as a museum. San Diego offers lots of watersports — you can surf, sail, snorkel, and even go for a ride in a gondola.

When you get hungry, San Diego offers excellent Mexican food. Shop and eat in the Gaslamp Quarter or Seaport Village, or go for fish tacos in La Jolla.
